Duplicate ticket estimating calculator coming in Spring 2012

Have you ever wondered how many duplicate lottery tickets are in each drawing?

We have pondered this question many times over the past few years and have found little information. Most research, ours including, present methods that quantify the minimum number of tickets that must be sold before a duplicate is found. But, nothing quantifies the probable number of duplicates, triplicates, quadruples, etc. that are actually present in a single lottery pool.

However, we have recently discovered a closed form solution for estimating these numbers, and we are currently developing the implementation of this.  We expect our development and testing to be completed within the next few months and are intending to release this duplicate estimator in Spring of 2012.

We are not sure if we should present this calculator in gadget or web page form. So, if you have any preference, please let us know by leaving a comment.

Note: Based on the results of our Poll , we decided to recommend all Power & Mega balls in every drawing after Octorber 22, 2007. This change will make these lotteries consistent with the International and other "mega" ball based lotteries.
