Not to be out done by the California's Super Lotto Plus drawing last Saturday, Canada's Lotto 649 drew one of its own memorable sequence of numbers.


The winning Lotto 649 numbers for Wednesday Aug 20, 2008 were:

03 06 09 27 28 36 and bonus number 45

After seeing this sequence, we noticed that these numbers were unique in 3 ways:

• Of these 7 numbers, 03 06 09 27 28 36 Megaball 45: Six of the 7 balls were divisible by 3.
• Next, 03 06 09 27 28 36 Megaball 45: Four of the 7 are multiples of 9.
  
• And last, 03 06 09 27 28 36 Megaball 45: The sum of 3 + 6 + 9 + 27 equals the bonus ball 45.
  

Again, many lottery books, advisors, and software products recommend that players shy away from identifiable patterns because they probably will never occur.

But, as this drawing and some other show, interesting patterns do occur in random events, and we should not ignore them!
